Get to know me
Codie Nicol
As a young and passionate freelance equestrian photographer, I like to spend my days listening to the rhythm of hooves and the click of my camera shutter. Being involved in the equestrian world myself has allowed me to find what photos we like best as we really do love getting our photos taken. Whether it's having me crouched in the dust of a galloping horse, or capturing the gentle heartwarming moments in the sunset, you will always see me happy to play a game of twister with my surroundings!
So, where did it all start?
I found that I loved photography from a young age. Always grabbing my parents phones to take photos of almost anything before receiving my first device, an iPod. I always ran out of storage space from the amount of photos on it. Though I had ridden a few horses already, I started riding for my eighth birthday and loved looking at photos and videos of myself. My parents soon realized how much I loved photography which lead me to receiving my first DSLR camera in 2019. I always had this camera with me, whether it was in my front yard or a trip to elsewhere, you could never catch me without it. That camera travelled far and wide with me, the same as my current one. I soon realized that us horse lovers really do love our photos, so I decided to switch to a mirrorless camera in 2022 after discovering the capabilities of equine photography. Riding and experimenting with photos of equestrians and friends has lead me to where I am today. My dream of running a small photography business is coming true. I promised myself when I was little that I would never stop taking beautiful photos and never leave the equestrian world. I plan on keeping that promise forever.
Doing extras for your comfort.
Making my clients comfortable is on the top of my list and comes before anything else, so if there is anything you’d like me to take into consideration, and I mean anything at all, just ask!
Comfort is a must for everyone. I am more than willing to extend myself in making sure my clients are comfortable enough with their surroundings and situations.
Your shoot is about you (and your horse of course). Whether it's making magical memories in the pretty light, or getting those intense action shots over difficult jumps, I am all for it!
I'll be there to capture it all and help you save these lovely memories for a lifetime.
